General Medicine at University Health Services
UHS General Medicine provides , primary care, women’s health, laboratory services, and limited specialty services on campus. In most cases appointments are available the same day as requested. Students who develop an episodic illness or incur an Injury may present at the department to receive medical care without an appointment during hours of operation.
In addition, primary preventive care, including a variety of physical examinations as well as women’s health, is offered by appointment. Specialty services include dermatology, orthopedics, endocrinology, and travel medicine. Medical services include an onsite laboratory,which performs a variety of tests as well as coordinates and reports results that require an outside laboratory referral.
- All students who attend UMass Boston pay a mandatory health services fee and may use the department of General Medicine for minor episodic healthcare regardless of your health insurance plan.
- UHS is the primary care provider for all students who have the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). Students who have the SHIP MUST utilize UHS for all routine and non-emergency care.
