Immunization Requirements

UMass Boston requires that all part-time and full-time students to provide submit documented evidence of immunization against MMR *(measles, mumps, rubella) diphtheria and tetanus and hepatitis B, to complete registration for classes.

*UMass Boston requires two MMR vaccines.

Note: Failure to comply with this requirement will result in an administrative hold of records.

Note to continuing students: You are only required to submit an immunization clearance once.

Acceptable documentation for obtaining clearance relative to this requirement may be:

Copy of an immunization record from a high school OR

Written certification by a healthcare provider, with full dates, that you either received the required immunizations or that to do so would endanger your health OR

Your signed statement, with substantiation, that the immunizations would conflict with your religious beliefs OR

Laboratory evidence of immunity.

The required immunizations may be obtained off campus by a provider of choice or they may be obtained at the Health Services. For related fees please see here for Student Health Insurance Plan members (SHIP) and here for students with private insurance.
